Tech leader Sam Altman won the dismissal of a civil lawsuit filed by his sister, Annie Altman, on Tuesday. She had accused him of sexually abusing her repeatedly for more than 20 years. Sam Altman has denied the accusations.

US District Judge Zachary Bluestone dismissed the lawsuit. He wrote that Annie Altman had refused to attend an independent medical examination, even though she had been warned that failing to attend could lead to her case being dismissed.

Annie Altman filed the lawsuit in a federal court in St Louis, Missouri, in January 2025. She accused her brother of sexually abusing and raping her between 1997 and 2006 at the family home in Clayton, a suburb of Missouri. According to the lawsuit, the alleged abuse began when she was three years old and Sam Altman was 12. She also claimed that the abuse continued when her brother was an adult.

The Altman family has said that Annie has faced mental health challenges and that they have given her financial support. According to reports, she began accusing Sam Altman of sexual abuse after the family refused her requests for more financial support.

In the written decision dismissing the case, Judge Bluestone said that Annie appeared to have deliberately delayed the legal process. The decision said she had missed three separate appointments for a medical examination. Because Annie had repeatedly failed to meet her legal duty to provide information and had stopped the case from moving forward by refusing to cooperate, the court said it had no choice but to dismiss her claims permanently.
