Amulya Vishwanath: Physical Artificial Intelligence is in the LEGO Era
Amulya Vishwanath, the founder and managing partner of Techable Ventures, said that physical artificial intelligence (AI) is now at a stage similar to the LEGO era. This means the industry is still building the basic parts that will support future inventions. Vishwanath previously worked as a product marketer at Nvidia. She stressed that developing software and basic parts for robots is important because these will help people build more advanced systems in the future.
She said that, just as with earlier periods of technological growth, such as the rise of the internet and the Industrial Revolution, it is only a matter of time before these technologies reach their full potential. Vishwanath also stressed that talented people are important in this field. She described access to talent as one of the main advantages Techable Ventures offers to help the founders it supports compete successfully.
In another development, Eka Robotics has raised $150 million in a Series A funding round. After the investment, the company was valued at $1.45 billion. It is developing an approach called “vision-force-action” for its physical AI models, with the goal of helping robots interact with the world and work more efficiently.
Meanwhile, an article published by The Guardian says that, despite progress in AI, human knowledge and skills cannot be fully replaced. Madhu Shashanka, a chief technology officer (CTO), argues that AI can do some tasks but cannot replace human judgment, especially in difficult situations such as operating self-driving vehicles.
