STMicroelectronics has introduced two six-axis motion sensors, the LSM6DSK320X and ISM6HGK256X. These sensors are called inertial measurement units (IMUs). They are designed for consumer and industrial products, such as fitness trackers, devices that monitor assets, robots and drones. Each sensor combines a highly balanced gyroscope with two accelerometers that can measure acceleration from ±16 g to ±320 g. It also has a built-in machine-learning core that helps rebuild events from sensor data and process information directly on the sensor. Each device measures 2.5 × 3 × 0.83 mm and can operate at temperatures from −40°C to +85°C or from −40°C to +105°C. The industrial model is covered by ST's 10-year longevity program.
