AI Price Prediction: We Asked ChatGPT if Bitcoin Can Get Back Above $100,000 in 2026
Quick Read
ChatGPT estimates a 40% chance that Bitcoin will reach $100,000 at some point in 2026. However, it gives Bitcoin only a 25% chance of ending December above that price.
Bitcoin needs to close a day above $87,700, the average price recent buyers paid, and attract steady investment through exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for several weeks to have a realistic chance of reaching $100,000.
ChatGPT's main prediction is that Bitcoin will end 2026 at around $88,000. It also estimates a 20% chance that Bitcoin will fall below $70,000 before the end of the year.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) is priced at $83,316 as of October 21, 2026, after rising 2.1% over the past 24 hours. To get back above $100,000, its price needs to rise by about 20%. ChatGPT estimates a 40% chance that Bitcoin will reach this level before the end of the year. Bitcoin is still 33.9% below its record high of $126,080, reached on October 6, 2025.
The $100,000 level matters because Bitcoin spent most of 2025 above this price and also ended October 2025 above it. But in 2026, its highest monthly price came in January and stayed below $98,000. In June, Bitcoin fell as low as $58,000. Since then, it has recovered, rising 27.7% over the past 90 days.
So, is it realistic for Bitcoin to rise above $100,000 again by the end of 2026?
ChatGPT Estimates a 40% Chance That Bitcoin Will Rise Above $100,000 in 2026
ChatGPT considers several possible outcomes. It estimates a 40% chance that Bitcoin will trade above $100,000 at some point in 2026. However, it sees only a 25% chance that Bitcoin will finish December above this price. It also estimates a 60% chance that Bitcoin will not reach $100,000 at all this year.
If Bitcoin briefly rises above $100,000, the prediction that it will not reach that level will no longer be possible. But for Bitcoin to finish December above $100,000, its price would need to remain strong through the end of the year.
Reaching $100,000 now requires more investment than it did in earlier years. Bitcoin's total market value is currently about $1.67 trillion. Around 20.1 million BTC are in circulation, out of a maximum supply of 21 million. As miners create more coins, Bitcoin will need a larger total market value to reach $100,000 in late 2026 than it needed to reach the same price in early 2025.
Bitcoin is already the world's largest cryptocurrency by market value, accounting for 59.6% of the entire cryptocurrency market. This means that a return to $100,000 will require new money to enter the market.
Three Key Factors That Could Push Bitcoin Toward $100,000
Bitcoin must rise above $87,700. Data from Glassnode shows that $87,700 is the average price recent Bitcoin buyers paid. This is 5.3% above Bitcoin's current price. ChatGPT suggests that if Bitcoin closes a day above $87,700 and then stays near that level, it could rise to $90,000, then $95,000, and eventually $100,000. At these prices, recent buyers would be closer to getting their money back. They might then feel less pressure to sell, which could help the price rise further.
Demand for Bitcoin ETFs must stay strong. On October 19, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs received $527 million in new investments. The next day, that amount fell to just $23 million. ChatGPT wants to see steady investment for several weeks, not just one strong day. Recent price movements support this concern: Bitcoin has fallen by about 4% since September 21, when it saw its largest daily investment inflow of the past month. This suggests that one big day of investment is not enough to keep prices rising.
Price changes must remain manageable, and money must be available to invest. Bitcoin's 28-day volatility, which measures how much its price moves up and down, is currently 1.2%, close to its lowest level in 2026. Such quiet periods can come before large price moves in either direction. Meanwhile, the M2 money supply, which includes cash and bank deposits, reached $23.3 trillion in August, its highest level of the year. Having more money in the financial system often helps assets such as Bitcoin.
ChatGPT Predicts Bitcoin Will End 2026 Between $70,000 and $105,000

In its main prediction, ChatGPT expects Bitcoin's price to settle down before recovering part of the way toward the average price recent buyers paid. It sees $88,000 as the most likely price at the end of 2026. It does not expect Bitcoin to return quickly to its previous record highs.
ChatGPT also sees a 20% chance that Bitcoin will fall below $70,000 before the end of the year, which would mean a drop of about 16%. This risk falls to between 10% and 15% if Bitcoin rises above $87,700 and stays there. ChatGPT expects the risk to remain limited because Bitcoin is trading above its 50-day average price of $81,567, and recent ETF investments suggest that large investors are still interested.
Setting a new record looks much more difficult. Bitcoin would need to rise by 51% to pass its previous high of $126,080. ChatGPT estimates a 25% chance of reaching a new record by 2027. Its possible outcomes include a 25% chance of a strong market, a 40% chance of its main prediction coming true, and a 35% chance of a weak market. If large investors put in more money and market conditions improve quickly, the chance of a new record could rise to 45%.
Can Bitcoin Reach $100,000 in 2026?
Overall, Bitcoin has a reasonable chance of reaching $100,000 at some point in 2026, but ending the year above that price looks less likely. ChatGPT's predictions support this view. For Bitcoin to have a real chance of reaching $100,000, it first needs to close a day above $87,700 and stay above that level. It would then need steady investment in Bitcoin ETFs for several weeks.
Waiting also carries the risk of losing money. If Bitcoin cannot stay above $87,700, ChatGPT expects it could fall back to around $83,000 and possibly drop to $80,000. If Bitcoin closes above $87,700 and holds there, a rise to $100,000 this year could still be possible. But if it falls below its 50-day average of $81,567, ending December above $100,000 would become much less likely.
