OpenAI's latest AI models are coming to Google Cloud and Antigravity
Google Cloud will offer GPT 6.1 Astra, Sol, and Luna in the coming weeks.
Google would prefer everyone to use its Gemini AI models with Google Cloud services. But soon, customers will have more choices. OpenAI and Google have made a deal to bring OpenAI's most advanced AI models to Google Cloud. More importantly, GPT models will soon be available in Antigravity, Google's coding tool, which uses AI agents to help people write code.
In the coming weeks, businesses and people interested in AI will be able to find OpenAI's newest models in Google's "Model Garden." This collection already has more than 200 options. It includes Google's Gemini models and open models such as Mistral, Llama, and Gemma. Anthropic's Claude AI has also been available there for some time. Google says it is now the only major cloud provider that offers access to all three leading AI language models whose full systems are not openly available to everyone.
OpenAI says Microsoft will remain its main cloud partner. Still, all three current GPT 6.1 models—Astra, Sol, and Luna—will be available on Google Cloud. Astra will naturally cost the most to run. But Google's system can automatically move tasks between different AI language models based on how well they perform, how quickly they respond, and how efficiently they use resources.
OpenAI's models will run entirely on Google's systems, and customers will pay through the Google Cloud Marketplace. Businesses that have already promised to spend money on Google Cloud will find it easy to start using GPT models instead of the AI tools they use now.
Google says all three OpenAI language models are now being tested in a private preview by a selected group of business customers. Anyone who wants early access to the latest GPT AI through Google Cloud can send a request. This can provide access through the API, even for people using Codex CLI or Codex Desktop. The AI calculations themselves run on Google's systems.
Bringing GPT models to Google Cloud could be important for businesses, but individual users may benefit too. Along with the cloud service, GPT models will appear in Google's Antigravity app. Until now, Antigravity has supported Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude. It seems likely that the same three OpenAI models will be added to Antigravity, but Google has not confirmed this.
Google recently released Gemini 4 Argon across its AI products. Google says this brings its leading AI model back to the same level as its competitors. It does seem better than Gemini 3.1 Pro, but it uses tokens at a surprisingly fast rate. Anthropic's Claude models are already available on Google Cloud. The new deal with OpenAI will give people who are not happy with Argon another choice besides Gemini.
