County College of Morris accepting applications for paid AI and data science apprenticeship
RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris is accepting applications for its artificial intelligence (AI) and data science apprenticeship program until Nov. 2. The program gives students and adult learners a chance to gain paid work experience while earning college credits and professional certificates.
The program is open to CCM students and adult learners who live in New Jersey and want to work in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science.
The apprenticeship includes classroom lessons and hands-on training from industry professionals. Participants must complete 30 college credits and 2,000 hours of paid, on-the-job training. After completing these requirements, they can earn a Certificate in AI and Data Science from CCM and a Certificate of Completion for a Registered Apprenticeship from the New Jersey Department of Labor.
According to the college, eligible participants may have their tuition and fees for the AI and Data Science Certificate covered. Credits earned through the program can also count toward a 60-credit associate degree at CCM. Students may then transfer to a four-year university to work toward a bachelor's degree.
“Artificial intelligence and data science are changing the global economy at an unprecedented pace,” said Nancy Binowski, a professor of AI and Data Science at CCM. “Through this innovative earn-and-learn model, students gain real-world experience in a dynamic, in-demand field, while employers have an opportunity to develop emerging talent and apply AI and data science solutions to business needs.”
The apprenticeship also gives employers a chance to train people who are starting their careers, help participants build workplace skills, and use artificial intelligence and data science tools in their businesses.
With support from the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development, CCM was chosen as one of two community colleges in New Jersey to help run the state's first AI and Data Science Apprenticeship registered with the U.S. Department of Labor.
The program aims to prepare workers for jobs that use artificial intelligence and data science in many industries. It also helps employers find and train new talent.
Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2026.
