New Delhi, Oct 22 (APAC Media): Anthropic has launched Claude Duet, an AI agent that can watch connected apps, organise work and do routine business tasks after getting approval from the user.

The standalone app can give users daily updates, schedule meetings, create dashboards and prepare financial forecasts. Unlike traditional chatbots, Claude Duet aims to spot new information that needs attention and keep working on assigned tasks even when users are away.

The tool connects to more than 6,000 services through the Claude Marketplace, including Gmail and Slack. It can also help users make purchases through Stripe’s Link digital wallet and Shopify’s Shop Pay.

Anthropic says Claude Duet asks users for approval before taking sensitive actions, such as sending messages, making payments, signing documents or deleting information. However, the company has warned that the agent may misunderstand conversations or make mistakes when deciding which tasks need immediate attention.

The app is still in an early research preview. Anthropic has also said that it has limits when handling personal tasks, such as booking tickets. Its reliability will need more testing.

Claude Duet joins a growing market of AI agents that can carry out tasks across different apps. Meta has introduced its Muse personal AI agent, while OpenAI is developing Dots agents designed to work with services such as Slack and Microsoft Teams.

The launch shows that AI companies are competing to move beyond chat-based assistants and build systems that can do tasks with less direct supervision. For businesses, the main questions are whether these agents can handle daily work reliably, keep sensitive information safe and work across connected apps.
