Anthropic's Claude Duet takes on Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots
What's the story
Anthropic has announced a new AI agent to compete directly with Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots.
Called Claude Duet, the new AI agent is designed for professionals and small business owners.
It is currently available as an early research preview through a waitlist. Users can access it through a separate app for iOS and Android or through Claude on the web. The web version is available to Pro and Max subscribers in the US.
What it can do
It can sum up your day and handle many tasks
Claude Duet runs on Claude Opus 5.5. It can send users daily summaries of important events across their connected apps.
It also checks these apps throughout the day and alerts users only when something needs their attention.
It can do many kinds of work, from simple tasks such as scheduling meetings to harder tasks such as building dashboards that use several tools or creating financial forecasts.
Advanced features
It has a virtual machine and browser to help finish tasks
Claude Duet also has a virtual machine and a browser that it can use to complete tasks. It can use the memory, skills, and connected apps from the user's Claude account.
Before doing anything important, such as making a payment or deleting something, the AI agent asks the user for permission.
To protect private information, it also uses a new "dedicated classifier and safety system prompt." This system stops it from following requests to share sensitive details, such as credit card numbers.
Who can use it
It is still an early version and may get the wrong idea about what is urgent
Anthropic has said that Claude Duet is still an "early version." It may misunderstand a conversation thread or make a mistake when deciding which things need urgent attention.
The company has opened a waitlist for the AI agent. Eligible users can try it during this preview period.
However, it is not yet very good at personal tasks, such as booking tickets, because it is mainly designed for work-related use.

We designed Claude Duet around Claude Opus 5.5, which helps it decide what needs your attention, what can wait, and when it should ask you first. It also uses the memory, skills, and connected apps from your Claude account, so you have very little to set up.
