Anthropic has made another attempt to compete with Meta and OpenAI in the AI race. The technology company has introduced a new AI assistant called Claude Duet. It can help people with everyday work without needing much human help. The company says the assistant can check connected apps on its own, find important tasks, and notify users when something needs their attention.

According to Anthropic, this new AI agent is designed for professionals and small-business owners who often deal with emails, meetings, payments, and other business tasks. Claude Duet runs on Anthropic's Opus 5.5 AI model. It can handle tasks such as scheduling meetings, preparing financial reports, building websites, and managing online stores. The announcement comes as Meta's Muse AI agent app is becoming popular in the United States and ranking high in App Store downloads.

How Does Claude Duet Work?

The company says users do not need to open the app every time they want it to do something. Instead, the AI assistant can check connected services automatically every few hours and send notifications about important updates. The app can even keep working when a user's computer or phone is switched off.

The app supports more than 6,000 connectors and plugins available through the Claude Marketplace. These connections let the AI assistant work with services such as LinkedIn, Shopify, Gmail, Slack, Stripe, and others.

Who Can Use Claude Duet

Claude Duet is currently being offered through a research preview with a waitlist for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the United States. People who want to try it can join the waitlist. Anthropic will email them when access becomes available. The AI assistant can be used through iOS, Android, and claude.ai.

For now, Claude Duet will remain separate from the main Claude app. Future changes will depend on feedback from people who try it early.
