Anthropic could make its registration statement, called an S-1, public as soon as Friday, according to reports. This would bring the AI company closer to a possible initial public offering (IPO) in November.

The timing of the IPO still depends on market conditions and other factors, Yahoo Finance reported on Wednesday. A public filing would give everyday investors their first detailed look at Anthropic's finances, business activities, and risks.

Anthropic privately submitted a draft S-1 to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in June. Making the filing public would be an important step toward a possible stock market listing.

Companies that use the SEC's confidential filing process must make their registration documents public at least 15 calendar days before they begin their formal roadshow to meet with potential investors.

Anthropic did not immediately respond to Benzinga's request for comment.

Large Computing Deals Raise the Stakes for the IPO

Anthropic's much-anticipated IPO is expected to be larger than the June stock market listing of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: SPCX). Investors see Anthropic's IPO as an important test of how willing they are to invest in AI companies, especially as concerns grow about the huge amounts of money these companies spend.

Last week, the company behind Claude told potential investors that its revenue in the third quarter rose 45% from the previous quarter, reaching $16.8 billion. Revenue in the second quarter was $11.6 billion.

Even with this strong revenue growth, Anthropic faced major financial pressure. A draft prospectus showed that Anthropic recorded a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of 2026, compared with $13 billion in the same period a year earlier. Most of the latest loss, $72 billion, came from accounting charges linked to changes in the value of convertible notes and other fundraising instruments. Meanwhile, the cost of computing equipment and infrastructure continued to rise.

Anthropic's commitments to build and use computing infrastructure also show how quickly it is expanding. The draft filing listed more than $600 billion in long-term computing contracts. These included planned payments of $111 billion to Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL, NASDAQ: GOOG), $110 billion to Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), and $31 billion to Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT).
