Uber expands OpenAI partnership to bring ChatGPT Work to 30,000 employees globally

Uber is making artificial intelligence (AI) available to more employees around the world. The company is giving OpenAI's ChatGPT Work to more than 30,000 employees after first testing it with 1,000 staff members.
Employees in different departments will be able to use an AI assistant that can complete difficult tasks involving several steps and different apps. This is the first time Uber is introducing this kind of AI system across the whole company to help employees with work that involves information and thinking.
ChatGPT Work is part of ChatGPT Enterprise. It can connect to workplace apps such as Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack. Employees can use it to find and study information, prepare notes for meetings, create presentations, study data and complete tasks that involve several of these apps.
GPT-6.1 Sol will be the default model
As part of this rollout, Uber will be able to use OpenAI's collection of advanced AI models. GPT-6.1 Sol will be the main model used automatically in ChatGPT Work. It is designed to work well while keeping costs under control.
Employees will also be able to use AI tools that work with different kinds of information, including voice and images. These tools can create images and work with voice, helping teams choose the right tools for different jobs.
Uber plans to help employees learn how to use ChatGPT Work by providing a company library of AI skills, connections to approved apps and special training. Teams working in operations, finance, marketing and product development are among those expected to use it. Uber's developers and software engineers will continue using Codex to write software and complete coding tasks.
Praveen Neppalli Naga, Uber's chief technology officer (CTO), said Uber has always been a company that builds things, and millions of people around the world depend on what it creates every day. He said that as AI changes the way people work, Uber wants to give all employees tools to come up with new ideas, solve problems and help decide the company's future. He described bringing ChatGPT Work to the whole company as an exciting step toward that goal and said he looks forward to seeing what employees create with it.
Greg Brockman, president and co-founder of OpenAI, said Uber is starting to use AI across its business. He said giving ChatGPT Work to tens of thousands of employees is a major step toward making OpenAI's most advanced AI tools available to more people. Teams across Uber will now be able to use OpenAI's advanced models and AI assistants to handle more difficult tasks, connect the apps they use every day and finish more work.
Part of Uber's bigger AI plan
This rollout builds on the work Uber and OpenAI are already doing together. It is also part of Uber's larger plan to use AI across its business.
As more employees start using ChatGPT Work, Uber and OpenAI plan to share more details about how many employees are using it, what they are using it for and what results they can measure.
