Apple has released a very important update for its office apps. Pages, Keynote, and Numbers are getting a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool called Intelligent Assistant. This tool will make it much easier to create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets. It is a big step forward for Apple Intelligence because it brings more powerful AI features into apps people already use. These features can do much more than the tools Apple offered before.
An assistant that understands our documents
According to 9to5Mac, the new assistant can understand what is inside our documents and follow simple instructions that we type. We can use it directly inside each app without switching to another tool. Here is what it can do.
In Pages, we can ask the assistant to write a first draft, move parts of a document around, or change how a section sounds. For example, it can make writing sound more formal or more friendly. This is a big improvement to Apple's Writing Tools. It helps us write much faster and choose our words more carefully.
In Keynote, the assistant can create presentation slides, add moving effects called animations, and write notes to help us during a presentation. We can also ask it to make pictures and shapes by simply describing what we want. This builds on the idea behind Image Playground, an Apple tool introduced a few years ago.
In Numbers, the assistant can help us create complicated formulas, build tables, suggest charts, and understand the information in our spreadsheets. All three apps will also be able to search the internet for the latest information and add that information to our work when we ask them to.
A new feature included with Apple Creator Studio
Intelligent Assistant is available as a beta, which means it is still being tested, for people who subscribe to Apple Creator Studio. At first, it only works in U.S. English and on devices running iOS 27. The subscription costs $12.99 per month. It also includes ready-made templates, design themes, and videos.
Apple has also announced another change to Keynote. The app is introducing a new open file format called .keyx. This format is designed to make it easier to share presentations between different tools. It could also allow AI tools made by other companies to work with Keynote presentations. Overall, Apple is moving toward a future where we can use AI directly inside the familiar apps we already use every day.
