Anthropic's $2T IPO Faces Uncertainty Amid AI Sector Sell-Off
Huo Xing Finance reports that on October 24, Anthropic planned to launch its initial public offering (IPO) in mid-November, aiming for a company value of up to $2 trillion. However, recent selling across the AI sector and the shrinking time available to prepare for the listing have made its plans uncertain. Under U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules, companies must make their S-1 prospectus public at least 15 days before starting their roadshow, when they present the company to potential investors. To complete its listing by late November, Anthropic must submit the required documents by next week at the latest. Recently, AI-related investments have lost value. CoreWeave's stock has fallen by about 30% in two weeks, while Micron's stock has dropped about 17% over the past month. These declines have increased concerns about whether spending on AI and the funding needed to support it can continue at current levels. Some market participants believe Anthropic may delay its IPO until market conditions improve. However, analysts point out that the company urgently needs money to invest in computing power and is finding it harder to raise money from private investors. These pressures could push it to go ahead with the IPO. The market currently puts the chance of Anthropic going public this year at about 80%.
