Says 2 million farmers promise to vote for Tinubu
From Noah Ebije, Kaduna
Senator Abdulaziz Yari, the head of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign, has said that about two million farmers have promised to vote for the President in the 2027 general elections. He rejected claims by opposition parties that Tinubu’s government does not care about farmers’ problems.
Yari also said the opposition could not win the 2027 general elections by using artificial intelligence (AI) to create lies about President Tinubu.
Yari, a former Governor of Zamfara State, spoke on Saturday at the launch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign in Kaduna. He accused opposition parties of using AI to spread false information about the President. He said elections could not be won through lies and misleading messages.
He said the farmers had made their promise after APC leaders and the campaign team met with them to explain the government’s farming support programs and its plans to give farmers more help across the country.
“They say your government does not support farmers and that you hate farmers. That is not true. We have clear proof of what your government has done, what it plans to do, and what it is still doing to help farmers. The farmers themselves know the truth. By God’s grace, about two million farmers have promised to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, God willing,” he said.
Yari criticized the opposition, accusing its members of using AI-created content to mislead Nigerians about the government’s work. He said the APC would respond by showing what the President had achieved and speaking directly with voters.
“Yesterday, I was with the National Chairman and our youth team. We talked about the opposition’s activities. They have turned to artificial intelligence (AI) to spread lies. They keep using AI-created content and false information, but elections in Nigeria are not won through lies. They will not win by deceiving Nigerians,” he said.
Speaking about the economy, Yari claimed that key economic measures had improved under Tinubu’s government, even though it had taken over the country during difficult economic conditions. He pointed to the exchange rate, saying the value had improved from nearly N1,800 to about N1,300 for one US dollar.
He also claimed that Nigeria’s foreign reserves had risen from about $3.9 billion to around $54.7 billion. He said these changes showed that the government was working to improve the economy, while accepting that Nigerians were still facing economic difficulties.
Yari said Kaduna was chosen to host the launch of the presidential campaign because it holds an important political position in northern Nigeria. He praised APC governors across the country, especially Governor Uba Sani, for working together to organize the event.
“Mr President, we are in Kaduna by choice, not by mistake. We chose Kaduna for this important gathering and the launch of the campaign for the 2027 presidential election,” he said. He added that the event was made possible by the joint efforts of APC governors and that the governor hosting it had spent the previous 10 days preparing.
Yari also said the party had stepped up meetings with traditional rulers, community elders, imams and other important people across northern Nigeria. The aim, he said, was to gain support for Tinubu’s re-election and encourage people to take part in politics peacefully before the election.
“Mr President, northern Nigeria is fully committed to your re-election. We believe people across the region will support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, God willing,” Yari said. He assured the President that APC governors and party groups would continue to build support among local communities to improve the party’s chances of winning the election.
