AI Avatar Telangana Unveiled at Hyderabad DevFest
Telangana's IT Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, has been given an AI avatar. It is designed to create a new digital way for citizens to connect with public leaders. Organisers called it Telangana's “AI Minister”. The avatar appeared live for the first time at GDG DevFest 2026 in Hyderabad on Saturday.
TensorGo, a company based in Hyderabad, developed the avatar using its HumAIn platform. Sai Krishna, an IT adviser to the minister, guided the project. The avatar was shown on stage as a way for people to interact with public leaders using artificial intelligence. However, the report did not explain what services it will offer, which languages it will support or what government tasks it may handle.
The launch took place at a conference organised by Google Developer Group Hyderabad. More than 3,000 developers, students and technology workers attended. The event included technical talks, job opportunities and an effort to stop the use of single-use plastics, according to the organisers.
Sridhar Babu spoke about the opportunities available to young developers. He said the next big advance in artificial intelligence could come from a student, a start-up or a young developer. He added that Telangana wanted to give people with such ideas a chance to develop them.
The conference theme was “Build, Secure, Scale: Developers and Builders in the agentic era”. It had four main tracks: artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing, DevOps and mobile technology. The programme presented the minister's AI avatar as part of a wider technology community focused on creating and putting digital tools to use.
For Hyderabad's technology industry, the event also linked government communication with job opportunities and contact with businesses. Google for Developers, Logitech, Lyric AI, MetLife and MSI took part in recruitment and other activities. Aarshad Devani, the GDG Hyderabad lead, said the conference offered both technical talks and immediate job opportunities for people who met the requirements.
In the Experience Zone, participants used rewritable NFC smart badges to share digital resumes with recruiters. Organisers also said they handed out reusable water bottles as part of their effort to reduce single-use plastics. This added a practical environmental goal to the technology event.
The report does not confirm whether the AI avatar has been officially connected to government departments, whether it can respond to public complaints or whether government officials will monitor conversations with it. It also gives no details about when the avatar will begin operating, which platform it will use, how personal data will be protected or how the information it provides will be checked.
The avatar's first live appearance at GDG DevFest introduced it to the public. More information about its role in government and the services it will offer citizens has yet to be announced.
