Chamath Palihapitiya Takes Dig at Claude as Economist Warns of AI Bubble: ‘AI Moves in Mysterious Ways’
Venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya made fun of Claude's writing problems while sharing a warning from TS Lombard economist Dario Perkins about a possible financial bubble and what it could mean for markets.
Palihapitiya Criticizes Claude's AI Writing
On Saturday, Palihapitiya shared Perkins' post on X. The post included a joke about using Claude to write "The Perkini Report: The 2028 Reality Crisis."
The disclaimer said Claude did a "poor, sloppy job," so the writers had to spend more time editing than they expected.
It also joked that Claude did not like mentions of specific companies and preferred the phrase "standalone model developer" instead.
The post sarcastically suggested that the AI should be blamed for any mistakes that remained, adding, "no human should ever be held accountable for its actions."
It ended with the words "AI moves in mysterious ways," making fun of the habit of blaming AI for mistakes.
Dario Perkins Warns of a Potential Financial Bubble
Meanwhile, Perkins questioned whether what looked like one of the clearest financial bubbles in history might actually be a bubble. He asked, "what if that is just really… bearish?"
He also said, "There were signs, there are always signs," suggesting that there may be warning signs in financial markets.

Anthropic Tightened Claude AI Rules
Earlier this month, Anthropic tightened its restrictions on influence campaigns, weapons and surveillance after cyberattacks involving its AI models.
A hacker used Claude to target 40 organizations linked to France's far right. The hacker broke into 14 of them and stole sensitive data. The updated rules also added stronger protections for elections and more human oversight for high-risk uses.
Last month, Anthropic launched Claude Sonnet 5.5, saying it was more than 30% faster and could cost up to 30% less per task than the previous version.
The new model included stronger cybersecurity protections and better coding tools. Anthropic also planned to release Haiku 5.5 to complete its lineup of three models.
Investors Divided Over AI Bubble Risks
Billionaire investor Ray Dalio called AI a "classic bubble." He warned that rising debt and interest rates could bring the bubble closer to bursting.
Citadel LLC CEO Ken Griffin said investors were "almost certainly" in an AI bubble. He pointed to uncertainty about how much companies are spending and what they will get back from those investments.
However, Blackstone BX CEO Stephen Schwarzman and President Jon Gray rejected concerns about an AI bubble. They pointed to rapidly growing demand for AI, limited computing capacity and strong revenue at Anthropic and OpenAI.
Blackstone has also built a data center portfolio worth $200 billion, showing how much it has invested in the infrastructure needed for AI.
