This forum is a follow-up activity to the TechConnect Vietnam - Australia Forum on August 10, 2026. With the message "From dialogue to connection, from innovation to investment," the forum aims to create a space for substantive cooperation between Vietnam and Australia, thereby expanding opportunities in markets, technology, partnerships, and investment for Vietnamese digital technology businesses.

Through Australia's network of experts, universities, businesses, and organizations, Vietnamese businesses can access knowledge, technology, high-quality human resources, partners, and investment opportunities, as well as support for product development, research and technology transfer, commercialization, and expansion into international markets.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh said that Vietnam identifies the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the driving force to improve productivity, quality of growth, and competitiveness.

International cooperation needs to contribute to this process by helping businesses and research and training institutions access knowledge, develop human resources, and enhance technological capabilities. According to Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh, Vietnam and Australia have favorable conditions to jointly achieve this goal. Vietnam has a vast need for technology application, and its engineers and businesses are actively expanding their international operations. Australia has universities, research facilities, and an innovation ecosystem that Vietnamese partners wish to strengthen connections with. By combining these resources in specific projects, both sides can jointly develop technology, train human resources, and explore new markets.

To promote cooperation in digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and semiconductors, and to expand market opportunities and investment for digital technology businesses, the Deputy Minister suggested linking research and product development with human resource training. Research institutes, universities, and businesses need to participate together from the initial problem identification stage, combining research with market demands and preparing a team to develop and operate the technology.

"AI collaboration needs to focus on data quality, reliability, and control over results; semiconductor collaboration can focus on chip design, design validation, prototyping support, and testing, in accordance with the needs, capabilities, and resources of the parties involved," said Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh.

The Deputy Minister also requested the Department of Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence to coordinate with relevant units to be ready to participate and select priority projects based on data access, testing conditions, capabilities, resources, and commercialization potential.

Key orientations for sustainable development

At the event, Ms. Renee Deschamps, Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, shared that Australian businesses are very interested in Vietnam's digital future, especially opportunities to promote fields such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
