Iren shares jump 5% in premarket trade on report of Anthropic AI cloud deal
Investing.com -- Shares of Iren (NASDAQ:IREN) jumped 5% in premarket trading on Monday after The Information reported that the data center operator had signed a multi-year AI cloud services deal with Anthropic.
The deal shows Iren can deliver and run high-performance AI computing centers, and it points to strong demand for AI infrastructure supplied by third parties.

Anthropic already relies on large public cloud providers such as Amazon and Google. Adding Iren lets it lock in large clusters of GPUs, the chips used to run AI models, with more flexibility and at lower cost, the report said.
That helps ensure growth before and after its planned initial public offering is not held back by a shortage of computing power, it said.
Renting computing power from companies like Iren, which have their own power supply and data centers, also helps Anthropic hold down its research and operating costs, the report said.
It said buyers of Anthropic's shares would focus most on how much it is losing and on its gross margin, and that cheaper computing could improve both.
