Amazon is negotiating to acquire Israeli-founded artificial intelligence startup Decart for about $7 billion, a deal that would rank among the largest exits in Israel’s technology industry if completed, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Talks remain underway, and no agreement has been finalized, according to the report. The negotiations could conclude soon but could also fall apart, as previous acquisition discussions involving Nvidia and Anthropic did in recent months.

If Amazon reaches an agreement at the reported $7 billion valuation, the transaction would become one of Amazon’s largest acquisitions in recent years in addition to ranking among the biggest exits involving an Israeli technology company.

Decart was founded in 2023 by Israeli engineers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf, who are brothers, and Moshe Shalev. The San Francisco-based company develops artificial intelligence technology focused on real-time video editing and interactive world simulation.

A $7 billion purchase would represent a sharp increase from Decart’s valuation in May 2026, when the company was valued at nearly $4 billion. It has raised more than $400 million from venture capital firms including Sequoia Capital, Benchmark and Radical Ventures.

Decart’s technology includes the Lucy and Oasis models, which focus on AI-generated interactive environments and video. Lucy is backed by Nvidia. The company has also developed software that allows developers to move between different AI chips.

Amazon already has a technology relationship with Decart. In 2025, it provided the startup with early access to Trainium3, Amazon’s custom artificial intelligence chips.

Other major AI companies have previously explored acquiring Decart. Nvidia pursued the company before Anthropic, the developer of Claude, entered discussions over a possible purchase.

Anthropic considered a deal valued at $6 billion before abandoning the talks in September 2026. Nvidia’s earlier effort also failed to produce an acquisition.

If Amazon reaches an agreement at the reported $7 billion valuation, the transaction would become one of Amazon’s largest acquisitions in recent years in addition to ranking among the biggest exits involving an Israeli technology company.
