IREN (IREN) shares rose more than 5% in Monday’s premarket trading after The Information reported that the crypto miner-turned-AI server provider had entered into a multiyear cloud deal with Anthropic (ANTHRO).
The Information analyzed the economics of Anthropic’s data center leases, detailing how the AI company is pushing its cloud partners to accelerate the construction of new data centers.
“People familiar with the relationship say Anthropic also has an unannounced multiyear cloud deal with IREN,” The Information said.
Anthropic’s push to rapidly expand its computing capacity “increasingly depends on current and former bitcoin miners such as Hut 8, TeraWulf, IREN and Nscale,” the report added.
In August, IREN disclosed that it had signed a deal with a leading AI lab but did not identify the customer at the time.
