GPT-6 is transforming ChatGPT. The responses are becoming interactive
OpenAI is introducing interactive interfaces in GPT-6 that allow users to perform tasks directly in ChatGPT, rather than switching between applications.
ChatGPT is beginning to transform users’ questions into interactive tools, tailoring the way information is presented to the nature of the task at hand.
On 7 October, OpenAI began the global roll-out of GPT-6 alongside the Intelligent UI feature. The new system can combine text with charts, forms, buttons and interactive diagrams. Users can access a financial calculator, a product comparison or a travel map directly within the chat window, without having to use separate applications.
The solution utilises a library of pre-built components, which the model selects and arranges according to the query. The interface is built up gradually, in parallel with the generation of the response. OpenAI makes GPT-6 Sol available to users on paid plans, whilst the Luna variant is included in the Free and Go subscriptions. According to the company, over 1.2 billion people use ChatGPT every week.
The changes also extend to performance speed. In OpenAI’s internal tests, GPT-6 Instant began responses requiring web searches on average 44 per cent sooner than GPT-5.6 Instant. However, these results require independent verification.
From a software market perspective, the change in how users interact with the technology may prove more significant. On-demand interface generation opens up the possibility of carrying out simple business tasks without having to switch between multiple applications. In the longer term, this could influence the design of SaaS products and competition amongst software providers.
Questions remain regarding the reliability of the information generated, data security and control over the operation of interactive tools. Their practical usefulness will depend on whether ease of use translates into accurate results and stable performance in real-world processes.
