Anthropic has signed a multiyear cloud agreement with IREN that neither company has publicly announced, The Information reported.

People familiar with the relationship confirmed the agreement, according to AI Weekly’s summary of The Information’s reporting. Its value and exact duration were not disclosed.

Anthropic is under pressure to bring capacity online quickly across roughly $530 billion in data-center leases, The Information reported. The company is pushing partners to build facilities faster.

The Information estimated that bringing a single site’s 245 megawatts of usable capacity online one month early would add more than $1.3 billion in revenue for Anthropic.

About two weeks before The Information’s report, Reuters reported that Anthropic’s confidential initial public offering prospectus showed at least $518 billion in planned AI-infrastructure spending with six partners over roughly a decade. About 80% of that spending is non-cancelable.

The planned commitments include at least $111.1 billion with Google, $110 billion with Amazon and $31.4 billion with Microsoft, Reuters reported.

Anthropic’s infrastructure build-out “increasingly depends on current and former bitcoin miners such as Hut 8, TeraWulf, IREN and Nscale,” The Information’s newsletter said. Those companies often control scarce grid connections.

Anthropic has previously disclosed infrastructure arrangements with Amazon Web Services, Google and more than a dozen other providers.

IREN, which is listed on Nasdaq and has moved from bitcoin mining into AI cloud services, had been linked to Anthropic for months through its search for Australian capacity.

In July, The Australian Financial Review reported that Anthropic had privately sought at least 1.4 gigawatts of Australian data-center capacity. IREN received the request alongside CDC Data Centres, AirTrunk, NextDC and Stack.

IREN’s main Australian asset is its planned 800-megawatt Bundey campus in South Australia. The site already has a secured transmission connection.

In April, CNBC reported that Anthropic was hiring a London-based “Transaction Principal” to lead sourcing and negotiations for compute capacity in Europe. The role pays up to 270,000 pounds and was described as “critical” to powering Anthropic’s next-generation systems.

The role covers Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Dublin, as well as the Nordic region, where lower energy costs are attracting AI projects.

Anthropic is also considering direct capacity agreements with data-center developers worldwide. Rival OpenAI has already opened a Stargate project in Norway with Nscale and Aker.
