HCLTech has signed a Global Premier Partnership with Anthropic to help enterprises deploy agentic artificial intelligence (AI), with plans to establish a dedicated business unit and Centre of Excellence (CoE) focused on Anthropic’s Claude models and related tools.
Announced on October 12, 2026, the partnership will cover enterprise AI solutions, software engineering, cybersecurity and business applications. HCLTech will use Claude, Claude Code and Cowork to develop industry-specific offerings, while its software subsidiary, HCLSoftware, will integrate Claude capabilities into select enterprise products.
As part of the agreement, HCLTech will establish a dedicated Anthropic Business Unit and CoE to develop agentic AI solutions and provide secure sandbox environments for enterprise deployments. The company also plans to help clients adopt AI-native engineering practices, train employees and build the capabilities required to operate AI systems at scale.
Agentic AI refers to systems that can carry out multi-step tasks with varying degrees of autonomy, rather than responding only to individual prompts. In enterprise settings, these systems can be used to support software development, IT operations and business workflows, although their deployment requires controls over access, decisions and actions.
HCLSoftware to integrate Claude into enterprise products
HCLSoftware, the company’s software business, will become an independent software vendor (ISV) partner of Anthropic and integrate Claude capabilities into select products across cybersecurity, automation, business process applications and application development.
The products include HCL BigFix, used for endpoint management and security, and HCL AppScan, which focuses on application security. The company also plans to enable Actian AI Analyst, which supports data analysis.
Separately, HCLTech will integrate Claude and Claude Code into AI Force, its agentic software engineering platform. The integration will cover IT support, code remediation and digital employee services.
HCLTech said these workflows will use policy guardrails, exception handling and human oversight for high-impact changes. The company did not disclose a timeline for the integrations or financial targets for the partnership.
Anthropic co-founder and president Daniela Amodei said the partnership would help enterprises use Claude in sensitive business operations, including systems managed by HCLTech for banks, hospitals, telecommunications companies and manufacturers.
HCLTech chief executive and managing director C Vijayakumar said the partnership combines the company’s systems integration capabilities with HCLSoftware’s product portfolio to develop and deploy agentic AI for enterprise customers.
Q2 results show growth in AI revenue
The partnership comes as HCLTech reported an 11.5% year-on-year increase in revenue to ₹35,620 crore for the July-September quarter of FY27, while net profit rose 21.2% to ₹5,132 crore. Its advanced AI revenue increased to $219 million from $171 million in the previous quarter, according to its results.
The results provide a broader picture of the company’s AI business as it expands partnerships and integrates AI tools into its services and software products. However, HCLTech has not disclosed how much revenue it expects the Anthropic partnership to generate.
The agreement also reflects the growing focus among technology services companies on moving enterprise AI projects beyond experimentation towards deployment, while addressing concerns around security, governance and oversight.
