Meta unveiled Muse Wonder, a subscription-based artificial intelligence model for its personal agent app. The move signals the company's push to monetize artificial intelligence outside its core advertising business.

Meta Platforms Inc. introduced Muse Wonder, a subscription-based artificial intelligence model for its personal agent app, as the company pursues revenue beyond online advertising.

Users of the Muse app need a monthly subscription of $20 or $100 to access the model. Meta AI chief Alexandr Wang said Monday the company developed the model, codenamed Watermelon, to keep personal and professional agents from stalling during real-world tasks.

"When you do real-world tasks, you're going to get roadblocks and you're going to get things that come up or various setbacks," Wang said. "We specifically tried to train the model to be able to try other approaches instead of stalling and then checking back in with the user at any time."

Muse shot to the top of Apple's App Store after Meta introduced the agent app last month. The app itself remains free. Subscription plans unlock more usage.

Meta said in a blog post that Muse Wonder offers its strongest safeguards to date against cyber misuse. Those protections apply only to the paid model. See the official blog post for details.

Wang said the team monitors agent-related incidents to resolve problems. Users complained on social media that the agent accessed personal messages without authorization. Meta disputes those claims.

Wang said users authorize communications early in a conversation and forget, so the company plans to educate users on these settings.

Muse Wonder also goes to coders through the Meta Model API. Wang said the API offering costs more than standard subscriptions because it is a larger frontier-level model. He said pricing stays meaningfully below leading models from OpenAI and Anthropic.

A more powerful variant, Muse Wonder Full, goes only to developers using the software engineering-focused Muse Code AI agent. That plan costs $50 or $200 a month.
