Hyundai BAYON to launch in India on October 26 with generative AI voice assistant

The new SUV will feature NVIDIA-accelerated connected technology, over-the-air updates, dual 12.3-inch displays and more than 70 connected features
Gurugram, October 12, 2026: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is bringing generative AI into the driving experience with the India-spec Hyundai BAYON, an Intelligent Utility Vehicle set to launch on October 26, 2026. Bookings are now open across Hyundai dealerships and on the company’s website.
Built around the philosophy of ‘Intelligence That Moves’, the SUV combines artificial intelligence, connected car technology and an immersive digital cockpit, with features designed to make everyday driving more intuitive. Its technology package includes HMIL’s first-ever generative AI voice assistant, an NVIDIA-accelerated Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), over-the-air (OTA) software updates and Hyundai Bluelink connectivity.
The SUV also gets dual 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays, a multilingual interface and more than 500 embedded voice commands in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu.
Commenting on the technology, Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “With Hyundai BAYON, we are introducing an Intelligent Utility Vehicle that places technology and convenience at the heart of the customer experience. Guided by the philosophy of ‘Intelligence That Moves,’ BAYON seamlessly integrates Artificial Intelligence, advanced connectivity and software-driven innovation to create a mobility experience that is intuitive, evolving and deeply personalised.”
He added that technologies such as the generative AI voice assistant, NVIDIA-accelerated ccNC, Vehicle Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA) updates and Hyundai Bluelink represent the next generation of intelligent mobility for Indian customers.
A voice assistant that goes beyond basic commands
One of the key features of the Hyundai BAYON is its generative AI voice assistant, which combines intelligence by Perplexity with voice AI powered by SoundHound AI. Unlike conventional voice systems that primarily rely on predefined commands, the assistant is designed to handle more natural, conversational requests.
Drivers can ask it for weather updates, road trip itineraries, hotel suggestions, restaurant recommendations and nearby shopping destinations. It can also provide information on sports coverage and score updates, allowing users to access relevant information while on the move.
The SUV also supports more than 500 embedded voice commands across six language options, including Hinglish. These commands allow drivers to access several frequently used in-car functions without an internet connection.
A connected cockpit built around the driver
The BAYON features Hyundai's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), accelerated by NVIDIA. The system brings navigation, connected services and vehicle controls together in a unified digital interface.
Features include online navigation, a personalised quick-control panel, split-screen functionality and smartphone-style controls. The setup is designed to make frequently used functions easier to access while offering a more integrated in-car experience.
Complementing the system are dual 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays that bring driving information, navigation, entertainment and connected functions into a single digital cockpit. Individual user profiles and personalised controls further tailor the interface to the driver.
Software updates and connected features
Hyundai BAYON is equipped with up to 19 controllers capable of receiving over-the-air updates. The technology allows compatible software enhancements and feature updates to be delivered remotely, reducing the need for dealership visits for supported updates.
The SUV also comes with Hyundai Bluelink, which offers more than 70 connected features. These include remote start and stop, vehicle information, remote controls, smartphone and smartwatch connectivity, location services, navigation-related functions and safety features.
Together, these capabilities extend the connected experience beyond the vehicle, allowing users to interact with their SUV through compatible devices.
The multilingual interface is another part of Hyundai's effort to make the technology more accessible to Indian customers. It supports 10 regional languages and two international languages across the infotainment and instrument cluster screens.
Petrol powertrain with two transmission options
Under the hood, the Hyundai BAYON gets a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine producing 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque. Buyers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual transmission and Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).
The combination of the petrol engine and two transmission options is intended to offer a balance of performance, refinement and everyday usability.
