MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Apple is expected to unveil HomeView, a smart home hub with a 6-inch square touchscreen, on Oct. 13, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The device will be powered by an A18 chip and Siri. It uses a Face ID-style camera to recognize who is in the room and shows each person their own calendar, messages and reminders. It can be mounted on a wall or set on a speaker base.

The Apple TV 4K is getting an upgraded A19 chip for gaming and Siri. Its remote can ring when it’s lost. The HomePod mini is also getting upgrades.

The Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini are set to go on sale Oct. 30. HomeView follows in mid-November.

Anthropic sets new chatbot rules as AI concerns growne:

Anthropic will ban sustained abusive or cruel behavior toward its Claude chatbot starting Nov. 12. Violators could lose access to Anthropic products.

The policy follows a message from Pope Leo that AI systems are not human and do not feel joy or pain.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has called for a human-controlled “kill switch” to stop rogue AI. Democrats and Republicans are proposing kill switch bills that would hold developers responsible for harm caused by their AI agents.

Pedro Domingos, a professor emeritus of computer science and engineering at the University of Washington, criticized the approach.

“The folks at Anthropic treat their AI Claude as if it’s a human being,” Domingos said.
