OpenAI alleges former employee took unreleased product files before joining Apple: Report
New allegations in the Apple-Open AI trade secret dispute raise questions about confidential product information, as separate research links rogue AI agent tests to Tencent and highlights growing concerns over AI security.

A new filing in the lawsuit between OpenAI and Apple alleges that a former employee left the AI giant after sending 100 files related to an unreleased product to his personal account and later making a presentation to a senior Apple executive about the unreleased product.
The filing, presented in San Jose, California, and reported by Reuters, alleges that the presentation took place months ago and that Apple is now developing products of its own based on the insights, citing the release of Apple's Home View product this week.
OpenAI further stated in the filing that it was “very concerned that its trade secret and confidential information is now circulating inside Apple, where Apple engineers can shape Apple’s upcoming products based on OpenAI’s confidential and innovative work.”
Apple said it has policies and procedures in place to ensure that new employees do not use confidential information from previous employers, and that it has no evidence to support OpenAI’s allegations.
These new details are part of an ongoing trade secret dispute filed by Apple earlier this year, in which it alleged that employees of the iPhone maker left and took confidential information to OpenAI’s hardware division. OpenAI has denied those allegations.
