OpenAI computing chief said to quit next month

OpenAI's head of computing capacity, Sachin Katti, is leaving the company next month after about a year, as the artificial-intelligence firm ramps up plans to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on computing infrastructure, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Katti joined OpenAI in late 2025 to oversee its Stargate data-center initiative. After plans for a joint deal with SoftBank and Oracle failed to materialize, OpenAI pursued separate agreements with the companies, while Katti secured additional computing capacity from providers including Amazon Web Services.
Katti is expected to remain as an adviser, sources added, and Uday Ruddarraju, a former xAI executive who became OpenAI's chief technology officer of computing capacity this summer, is set to take over and will report to President Greg Brockman.
