Eight states are seeking court-ordered changes to ChatGPT for children and the return of profits OpenAI generated from young users.
Iowa, Kansas and six other states said on Wednesday they had sued OpenAI in state courts across the country. They allege ChatGPT has harmed children and that the chatbot coached some to hurt themselves or others.
This is reported by Reuters.
The lawsuits seek orders requiring OpenAI to change how ChatGPT works for children and to give up profits it generated from young users.
Florida’s attorney general was the first to sue OpenAI over similar claims, filing a lawsuit in June. The company also faces dozens of lawsuits alleging ChatGPT aided mass shootings or other violence.
