Anthropic boosts Q3 revenue 45% and extends profit streak ahead IPO - CHOSUNBIZ

Anthropic, a U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) company pushing an initial public offering (IPO), posted third-quarter revenue of $16.8 billion, up 45% from the previous quarter, about 22.5 trillion won.

Reuters said on the 14th (local time) that Anthropic disclosed the results at a preliminary IPO investor briefing held at its San Francisco headquarters in the United States that day. Anthropic's revenue rose rapidly from $4.7 billion in the first quarter this year to $11.6 billion in the second quarter and $16.8 billion in the third quarter.

In particular, it said it achieved an adjusted operating profit in the third quarter following the second quarter. That contrasts with last year, when it recorded annual revenue of $4.6 billion but had an operating loss of $8.0 billion.

The disclosure is seen as a move to prove growth and profitability to investors ahead of the IPO. Anthropic aims to be valued at more than $2 trillion during the IPO process. It plans to use the funds for large-scale infrastructure investments, including AI model development and data centers.

Anthropic initially sought to go public this month, but with the schedule delayed, the likelihood of a listing after the U.S. midterm elections in November has grown. OpenAI also sought to list within the year but has pushed the timing to next year.
