Anthropic Q3 2026 revenue jumps 45% to $16.8B, reports first adjusted profit ahead of IPO

Anthropic reported a 45% quarter-on-quarter increase in revenue to $16.8 billion in Q3 2026, up from $11.6 billion in the preceding quarter, as demand for its artificial intelligence products continued to accelerate.
The figures were shared with prospective investors at a pre-IPO meeting in San Francisco on Wednesday, according to Reuters, which cited people who attended the presentation. Revenue has increased substantially through 2026, rising from $4.7 billion in the first quarter to $11.6 billion in Q2 before reaching $16.8 billion in the July–September period.

The company also reported adjusted profitability for the first time in Q3, marking a significant development for an AI developer facing enormous infrastructure and computing costs. However, adjusted profitability excludes certain expenses and does not necessarily indicate profitability under standard accounting measures.
The improvement follows substantial losses in 2025, when Anthropic recorded more than $8 billion in operating losses on revenue of approximately $4.6 billion. The company has also committed at least $518 billion towards cloud computing and infrastructure over the next decade.
Anthropic is reportedly targeting a valuation exceeding $2 trillion for its anticipated initial public offering, which could take place after the US midterm elections in November.

The listing would provide an important test of investor appetite for AI developers as scrutiny intensifies over whether rapidly growing revenues can justify the extraordinary costs of developing and deploying frontier models.
For the wider technology industry, Anthropic's quarterly performance highlights both the accelerating commercial adoption of generative AI and the mounting pressure on developers to demonstrate sustainable profitability as infrastructure investments continue to rise.
