Anthropic tells investors Q3 revenue jumped 45% to nearly $17 bln, FT reports
Investing.com-- Anthropic told investors its third-quarter revenue rose sharply and that the company was profitable, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Anthropic's revenue jumped nearly 50% to $16.8 billion, the FT reported, noting that the growth was slower than the blistering pace set earlier in 2026, and was also below some expectations.
The report comes as Anthropic looks to rally investors for a blockbuster initial public offering in the coming month, while fending off concerns over slowing artificial intelligence spending and profitability.
The startup gathered investors in its San Francisco office on Wednesday for a full day of presentations, the FT reported, and was seen attempting to shore up faith in its upcoming November IPO.
Anthropic told investors it was profitable on an adjusted basis in Q3, its second straight quarter of reported profitability, the FT said.
The company also told investors it was cash flow positive and was making $1.70 in revenue for every $1 spent on computing power in Q3, the report said.
But the FT noted that the company's pace of revenue growth was slowing from earlier in the year. The company's annualized revenue is also expected to come in below the closely watched $100 billion figure.
Anthropic is locked in a dire race with OpenAI to produce the most advanced AI models and capture a greater share of the market. But it was seen falling behind the ChatGPT creator in recent months, especially after the latter released its flagship GPT-6 Astra model.
The two are also contending with competition from significantly cheaper and nearly as powerful Chinese AI models, which present more risks to revenue.
