OpenAI to Host Developer Event in Seoul, Sharing Latest AI Tech with AWS and LG CNS
OpenAI announced on October 15 that it will host the developer event "OpenAI DevDay Exchange: Seoul" on October 22 in Seoul's Gangnam district. The event, which will bring together South Korean developers and tech entrepreneurs, will cover AI agent development, Codex security, and real-time voice and image generation technologies.
The event serves as a platform to bring technologies and insights unveiled at the annual developer conference "DevDay 2026," held in San Francisco on September 29, to regional developer communities. DevDay Exchange is being held in eight cities worldwide this year, including Seoul. The event emphasizes direct engagement between regional developers and OpenAI engineers.
The main event in San Francisco featured more than 20 major announcements. These included "Dots," an AI agent capable of sustained task execution, and the new "GPT-6.1 Sol" model, along with Codex's cloud development, code review, and security capabilities, and the "Agent API" for building AI agents.
At the Seoul event, Albert Yip, OpenAI's head of technical success for Asia-Pacific, will deliver the keynote address outlining the company's development direction. He will be followed by Bonnie Chatterjee, OpenAI's head of applied AI engineering for API, and Corey Ching, who oversees developer experience, who will lead deep-dive technical sessions and demonstrations.
The ChatGPT platform and plugins will also be key discussion topics. OpenAI representatives plan to walk through technical challenges encountered in real-world development and implementation approaches, and answer attendee questions directly.
AWS and LG CNS to Present Customer Case Studies
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and LG CNS will participate in customer case study presentation sessions. Drawing on their experience with OpenAI technologies, the two companies will share practical considerations and real-world examples for developers and enterprise customers applying these technologies and services in the field.
The venue will feature demo booths from OpenAI and participating companies. Topic-based exchange tables and networking programs will enable attendees to share projects and ideas and explore collaboration opportunities.
Kim Kyung-hoon, head of OpenAI Korea, said, "We hope this DevDay Exchange will serve as an opportunity for Korean developers to experience new AI technologies firsthand and connect them to real product and service development." He added, "We hope the ideas and personal connections formed on-site will lead to new initiatives and collaborations beyond the event itself."
Strengthening Focus on the South Korean Market
OpenAI's decision to hold an event in Seoul reflects its interest in the South Korean developer ecosystem. Seoul's inclusion among the eight cities hosting DevDay Exchange underscores the strategic importance of the South Korean market within the Asia-Pacific region.
OpenAI has been expanding direct engagement with developer communities amid rapid commercialization of generative AI technologies, including AI agents and real-time voice and image generation. The event is focused not merely on technology introductions but on practical discussions that translate into real product and service development.
The participation of key partners such as AWS and LG CNS is expected to demonstrate, through concrete examples, how OpenAI technologies are being applied in enterprise environments. This aligns with OpenAI's strategy to expand its influence in the enterprise AI market beyond providing developer tools and APIs.
