Nothing Phone
Nothing is reportedly preparing to enter the smart glasses market with two artificial intelligence-powered eyewear models, one focused on audio features and the other offering cameras and ChatGPT integration. Both versions are expected to feature photochromic lenses that automatically adjust their tint according to lighting conditions.
The information comes from tipster Roland Quandt, who shared details on Bluesky. Nothing has not officially confirmed the development, and details such as pricing, hardware specifications and launch dates remain unknown.
Nothing smart glasses: Two models in development
According to the leak, Nothing is working on two versions of its smart glasses to cater to different requirements.
The first model is expected to focus on audio. Users could listen to music and audiobooks, make hands-free calls and activate the digital assistant on their connected smartphones. The glasses are reportedly being designed without cameras, potentially making them a simpler option for users who want audio functionality without additional recording hardware.
The second model is expected to include cameras alongside the audio features. These cameras could allow users to capture photos and videos from their point of view. The glasses are also tipped to feature OpenAI's ChatGPT integration, allowing users to access AI assistance, along with real-time language translation.
However, the leak does not specify how users will interact with ChatGPT or whether the AI features will require a connected smartphone or an internet connection.
Auto-tinting lenses expected on both models
Both versions are reportedly being developed with photochromic lenses. These lenses darken when exposed to bright sunlight and become clearer when users move indoors or into lower-light conditions.
The feature could allow users to wear the glasses in different lighting environments without switching between regular spectacles and sunglasses. Other hardware details, including battery capacity, remain undisclosed.
Nothing smart glasses: Expected launch and competition
If the reported plans materialise, Nothing will enter a market where Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses have already established a presence. Google, Samsung and Apple are also reported to be exploring smart eyewear.
Nothing's design approach could influence how the glasses look, but no confirmed design details are available yet. Industry speculation points to a possible 2027 launch, although this timeline remains unconfirmed.
For now, the reported features should be treated as preliminary information until Nothing announces the products officially.
