Claude maker Anthropic reports quarterly profitability ahead of IPO

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic reported $16.8 billion in third-quarter revenue and adjusted profitability as it prepares for a potential initial public offering (IPO), Bloomberg reported Thursday.
The developer of the Claude AI assistant shared the figures with prospective investors during a presentation at its San Francisco headquarters on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported.
Anthropic also reported positive free cash flow, an adjusted gross margin of 85% and an adjusted operating margin of more than 11%, the report said.

The figures reflect adjusted financial measures and do not establish whether the company recorded a net profit.
Anthropic could begin formally marketing its IPO as early as the week of Nov. 9, potentially paving the way for its shares to begin trading before the US Thanksgiving holiday. The company is reportedly aiming for a stock market debut before the end of the year, although the timing and details of the offering remain subject to change.
Some investors had suggested before Wednesday’s presentation that Anthropic could be valued at between $1.8 trillion and $2 trillion. Those estimates do not represent a finalized IPO valuation.
The reported quarterly revenue marks a sharp increase from the approximately $4.6 billion Anthropic generated over the whole of 2025, according to financial documents previously reviewed by Bloomberg.
However, analysts have raised questions about whether the company’s growth can sustain its pace, particularly as it commits substantial resources to computing infrastructure.
The potential listing comes as competition in the artificial intelligence sector intensifies and investors increasingly scrutinize companies’ spending, profitability and valuations.
