Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark warned on Saturday that artificial intelligence is advancing faster than people can anticipate, leaving a limited window for action.

Speaking at a lecture during the IMF's annual meeting in Bangkok, Clark said, "We're in control of this technology now," but stressed that AI is becoming "much more capable, much more quickly than all of our intuitions." Clark said Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei had publicly raised the possibility of introducing limits on the technology.

He added that policymakers may need to consider limits on the maximum intelligence of AI systems, describing the debate as one that requires urgent attention. He warned that "the window for us to act is a small number of years," arguing that policy discussions must keep pace with technological developments.
