Bangkok, Oct. 18 (SANA) An internal economic model at U.S. artificial intelligence company Anthropic projects that advances in AI could help raise U.S. gross domestic product to $44 trillion by 2030 under certain conditions, compared with just over $30 trillion currently, co-founder Jack Clark said Saturday.

Reuters reported Clark’s remarks at the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Bangkok, Thailand, on Oct. 17. Clark called for international cooperation to establish strict rules governing the technology as its capabilities advance rapidly.

Clark described the $44 trillion figure as one that “sounds very outlandish,” while pointing to AI’s growing role in accelerating scientific discovery. The figure represents a scenario generated by an Anthropic internal model, not an established economic outcome.

He said the projected expansion would depend on continued improvements in AI capabilities, as well as the emergence of new industries and inventions capable of supporting such substantial economic growth.

The projection highlights the potential scale of AI’s economic impact, while underscoring the importance of effective regulation as the technology develops. Clark stressed the need for international cooperation to keep regulatory frameworks aligned with the pace of technological change.

Founded in 2021, Anthropic has become a major developer of generative AI systems, competing with other technology companies in a global race to develop more capable and safer artificial intelligence.
