Musk says Anthropic should give shares to public

Billionaire and Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk suggested on Sunday that Anthropic PBC distribute shares directly to the public instead of allocating them to a newly established public benefit fund.

"I recommend giving the shares directly to the public," Musk wrote on X in response to the company's announcement that it would initially commit 5% of its shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund.

Anthropic said it could add up to another 2% of its shares to the fund each time its value rises by 50%, subject to board approval. The company claimed the contributions could eventually bring the total to around 20%.
