Seaworthy Insurance has launched an app for ChatGPT that gives people estimates of how much individual disability insurance may cost. The estimates are based on the user's job, age, sex, and income.

The estimates use more than 400 insurance plan examples prepared in 2026 from five disability insurance companies. Users can change the monthly benefit amount, how long they must wait before benefits begin, protection against inflation, and coverage for severe disabilities to see how these choices affect the estimated cost. The names of the individual insurance companies are not shared in the estimates.

The estimates assume a policy that pays benefits if a person cannot do their own job, includes benefits for partial disability, and pays benefits until age 65. Prices are based on policy examples from Texas. Actual costs may differ by state and depend on the results of the insurance company's review of the applicant. Users can ask a licensed advisor for official quotes and will receive a follow-up within one business day.

The app is part of the company's move toward using AI. The insurance brokerage was founded in 2011 and changed its name from Disability Insurance Agency to Seaworthy Insurance in June 2026. Managing Partner Toby Lason said the old name had become a disadvantage as more people use AI assistants to find recommendations. People could understand the name as a general type of service rather than the name of a specific company.

Seaworthy serves high-income professionals in all 50 states. The company says it has arranged more than $5 billion in disability and life insurance coverage. Its insurance company partners include Guardian, Principal, MassMutual, Ameritas, and The Standard.
