Anthropic (ANTHRO) is close to making a second deal with Nscale, a U.K.-based data center company, to rent a large amount of computing power in the U.S., Bloomberg reported.
Bloomberg reported that the deal would also be worth about $45 billion and could be completed in the next few days. The report cited people who know about the discussions. The deal would give Anthropic access to about 460 megawatts of computing power at Nscale's Monarch data center campus in West Virginia. It would also give Anthropic access to Nvidia's (NVDA) Vera Rubin graphics processing units (GPUs).
The sources also said that Anthropic has the right to make the first offer for a third building expected to be built at the Monarch data center site.
In August, reports said that Anthropic, the company behind the popular Claude artificial intelligence chatbot, would rent 460 megawatts of computing power from an Nscale data center in West Virginia. Reports at the time described that deal.
Anthropic and Nscale did not immediately respond to Seeking Alpha's request for comment.
