Planday, a platform that helps businesses manage workers who work in shifts, has announced that customers can now use Planday directly through ChatGPT and Claude. Planday is the first workforce management platform with verified connectors for both AI assistants. After an initial early-access launch, more than 216 customers have already connected their Planday accounts through the two platforms.

Connecting AI assistants to workforce management tools allows managers to combine Planday scheduling data with outside information available through ChatGPT or Claude. This helps managers understand more of the things that can affect staffing needs before reviewing recommendations and taking action in the same conversation. These actions can include creating draft shifts and moving workers to different shifts. Users must confirm changes before they are put into effect.

For example, a restaurant manager could ask their AI assistant how current bookings, if the assistant is connected to the restaurant's booking platform, and the weekend weather forecast might affect the expected number of bookings. The manager can compare this information with existing staff schedules in Planday to see where more workers may be needed. They can then review the recommendations and make the necessary scheduling changes. The same approach can help with sudden changes, such as a staff member being absent. Managers can check how this might affect the business and find available workers to cover the shift without switching between systems.

Dave Lee, CEO at Planday, said:

“Businesses that rely on shift workers face constant change, and managers rarely make staffing decisions based on the rota alone. Local events, weather and changes in demand can all affect how many people are needed for a shift. Having too few workers also puts more pressure on the people who are working and affects the service they provide.

“Planday scheduling data can be combined with more information from outside sources, all within the AI assistants that hospitality managers are increasingly using to help make decisions. Managers can now manage their rota through the AI assistant they already use. This helps them predict and respond to staffing needs, giving better support to workers on shift and customers.”

The connectors are designed to follow Planday's existing permissions and data controls. They cannot access sensitive information such as bank details, payroll records or National Insurance numbers. Users can only take actions through ChatGPT or Claude that they are already allowed to perform in Planday.

Planday customers around the world can currently use the connectors during an early-access period at no extra cost. Customers can connect their existing Planday accounts through the open integrations available in the ChatGPT and Claude marketplaces.
