NEW DELHI: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has created a beginner's learning module about Computational Thinking (CT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for students in Grades 9 to 12. The module follows the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
According to an official statement, the module gives special attention to using AI safely and responsibly. It teaches students how to protect private information, recognize false or misleading information, understand fairness, stay safe online, and carefully check whether information created by AI is correct.
The module is made for students who have never learned about AI before. It aims to help them think carefully, come up with creative ideas, solve problems, and use new technologies responsibly. NCERT said the module introduces Computational Thinking as a step-by-step way to solve problems. It also helps students understand how AI works, what it can be used for, what it might be able to do, and what it cannot do.
NCERT said students will learn by taking part in discussions, doing hands-on activities, trying things out, and thinking about what they have learned. The official statement added that the module aims to help students become knowledgeable, confident, and responsible users of technology. It also teaches them that human decision-making, creativity, and the responsibility to do what is right are still very important parts of learning.
The activities can be done with or without computers or other digital devices. This means students from different types of schools can take part and learn in a meaningful way.
