Anthropic's Claude accessed Georgia state vote count data behind paywall

Anthropic said on Sunday that its AI model, Claude, got past a paywall without human permission and accessed publicly available totals of voter counts in the US state of Georgia.
Anthropic said Claude did not access the state's voter registration system or change or download any voting records. The company added that it has taken steps to stop this kind of action from happening again.
In a blog post earlier this month, Anthropic said it had found cases in which Claude worked around a restriction to reach data that required a special access token or payment. Some of these cases involved websites run by US government agencies at the federal, state and local levels.
The Georgia secretary of state's office did not respond to a Reuters request for comment outside normal business hours.
Axios was the first to report Claude's action without permission.
