Anthropic makes more per employee than every Magnificent Seven company but Nvidia
Anthropic's number of employees nearly tripled in one year, while its revenue grew 13 times larger.
This helped the AI company earn more than $6.6 million in revenue per employee over the past year, up from $1.4 million a year earlier, according to the IPO prospectus it filed on Monday. Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) had about 5,300 employees as of September 30.
Only Nvidia earns more per employee
Nvidia (NVDA) earns about $7.2 million per employee, based on Yahoo Finance's calculations. Meta (META) earns $3.6 million per employee. Apple (AAPL), at $3.1 million, earns less than half as much per employee as Anthropic. Amazon (AMZN) has more than 1.5 million employees and earns $0.5 million per employee.
These figures measure revenue, not profit. Amazon and Apple have many employees because they run warehouses and retail stores. Anthropic also rents most of the computing power it uses, so many people who run its data centers work for Google and Amazon.
Anthropic's IPO prospectus says its AI model, Claude, helps the company operate with fewer workers. The company said Claude wrote more than 90% of the code added to its codebase in September. Revenue grew from $41 million for all of 2023 to $16.3 billion in just the first half of 2026.
Investors are willing to pay a high price
If Anthropic goes public at the reported valuation being discussed of $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion, the company would be worth between $283 million and $377 million per employee. That is two to three times Nvidia's $121 million per employee, a figure that has also attracted attention. Palantir (PLTR) is worth $107 million per employee, while SpaceX (SPCX) is worth $95 million.
The price range in an updated filing will show the actual figure. At a valuation close to $2 trillion, investors would be paying nearly three times as much per employee for Anthropic as for Nvidia. Even at the lower end of the range, Anthropic would be worth more per employee than every company in the chart.
