Anthropic IPO: We now know how much Dario Amodei and Daniela Amodei are worth
Billionaires

Anthropic filed the paperwork for its much-anticipated IPO on Monday morning.

Anthropic, a major artificial intelligence company, officially filed to become a publicly traded company on Monday morning. The filing revealed for the first time how much of the company each of its seven co-founders owns.
According to Forbes calculations, each co-founder owns about 1.4% of the company. These shares are worth between $13.1 billion for chief architect Sam McCandlish and $13.8 billion for chief compute officer Tom Brown, 39, and interpretability research lead Chris Olah, 34. These estimates are based on Anthropic's $965 billion valuation in its most recent private funding round in May.
Forbes estimates that the shares owned by the company's two best-known co-founders, CEO Dario Amodei, 43, and his sister, Anthropic president and chairperson Daniela Amodei, 39, are worth $13.6 billion and $13.7 billion, respectively.
They are the only two co-founders named in the filing as having taken part in share sales alongside other executives and employees. These sales totalled $4.7 billion in April 2026 and $157 million in June 2025. It is not clear exactly how many shares the Amodeis sold in these deals. Other notable sellers included CFO Krishna Rao, who joined the company in 2024, and Holden Karnofsky, Daniela Amodei's husband and the chairman of Anthropic's board.
Anthropic's other two co-founders, head of public benefit Jack Clark, 38, and chief science officer Jared Kaplan, 42, each have shares estimated to be worth $13.7 billion. Forbes had earlier estimated that each of the seven co-founders owned a 1.6% stake worth $15.5 billion, based on the company's private funding round in May. Anthropic has not yet revealed the price of its IPO shares. However, reports say the company is seeking a valuation between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion. At that value, each co-founder's net worth would be more than $20 billion.
All seven Anthropic co-founders have promised to give 80% of their personal ownership in the company to charitable causes. However, the IPO filing says these promises can be withdrawn and are not legally binding. Two charitable funds, known as donor-advised funds, currently hold Anthropic shares worth about $260 million, based on the company's valuation in the May funding round. It is not clear how much of these shares each co-founder donated. Dario Amodei alone has the power to vote the shares held by these funds.
Although Anthropic's seven co-founders own only about 10% of the company's shares together, they jointly own one special share that has no financial value but controls 50.1% of shareholder votes. A group called the Long-Term Benefit Trust, which Anthropic describes as an independent group of trustees with no financial stake and expertise in AI safety, national security, public policy, and social enterprise, can appoint and remove most of Anthropic's board members.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by seven former OpenAI employees who left that company in the same year. OpenAI was co-founded by billionaires Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. OpenAI was valued at $852 billion in its latest private funding round in March. Reports say it is now seeking more money from private investors at a valuation of $1.25 trillion. The company is also expected to go public in the near future.
This story is still developing. Anthropic could not immediately be reached for comment.
