Several important economic reports affected how investors viewed markets across the region. In China, industrial profits rose 15.5% year over year to 6.03 trillion yuan (CNY) during the first nine months of 2026. Industrial production grew 5.5% year over year in September, its fastest growth since March.
In Japan, the Services Producer Price Index rose 3.7% year over year in September. This was faster than the revised 3.5% increase in the previous month and matched what markets had expected.
Investors are also watching important central bank decisions due this week. Markets widely expect the Bank of Japan, the U.S. Federal Reserve, and the European Central Bank to leave interest rates unchanged. However, investors are still watching for possible changes in monetary policy later this year.
In the United States, stock market indexes ended higher on Monday as interest in AI grew again. U.S. stock futures also moved slightly higher overnight, as markets carried forward the positive mood from Wall Street's strong start to the week.
