Perplexity upgrades Mac app with ChatGPT-powered voice mode
Earlier this year, OpenAI introduced its gpt-live-1 voice model. This model can listen to you while it speaks. Starting today, Perplexity has upgraded the voice mode in its Mac app to use gpt-live-1 behind the scenes.
Even after several months, gpt-live-1's ability to listen while speaking is still an impressive feature of ChatGPT's advanced voice model. Adding this advanced model to the voice mode in Perplexity's desktop app is a good way to improve the experience for Pro and Max subscribers.
You can see the new feature in action below:
We've updated voice mode in Perplexity. You can work across several Computer sessions at the same time, start new tasks, and create and manage Projects, all in one voice session.

Separately, Perplexity recently introduced a feature that lets its AI run directly on a Mac without using cloud-based models. This makes it possible to use the AI offline and supports ways of working with AI that focus on privacy.
