Anthropic’s $131.7 Billion Cash Reserves Trail Only Berkshire Hathaway and Alphabet
Anthropic has $131.7 billion in cash and short-term investments. This puts the artificial intelligence company ahead of Amazon, Microsoft and Apple. Among U.S. companies that are not banks, only Berkshire Hathaway and Alphabet have more money in these forms.
The company, which is nearly six years old, reported having $112.4 billion in cash and cash equivalents, along with $19.3 billion in short-term investments, as of June 30. These figures appeared in its filing for its planned initial public offering (IPO), according to CNBC reporting cited by Seeking Alpha.
Berkshire Hathaway ranked first, with $365.5 billion. Alphabet came second, with $242.5 billion, and Anthropic ranked third. Anthropic had more than Amazon, which reported $123 billion, and SpaceX, which had $100 billion.
These figures show how much money Anthropic has available. Its reserves were larger than the combined $124.9 billion reported by Nvidia and Apple, two of the technology industry's most valuable companies.
Several other major technology companies also had less money in reserve than Anthropic. Meta Platforms reported $90.3 billion, while Microsoft had $76.8 billion. Tesla held $43.5 billion, and Oracle reported $31.9 billion.
The ranking shows how quickly an AI company has built up financial resources that compare with those of businesses that have been around for decades. As Anthropic prepares to sell shares to the public, its large reserves give it more freedom to decide how to use its money. This is important in an industry where powerful computers and the facilities needed to run them cost a lot to build and operate.
