Anthropic changed the names of its two most expensive Claude plans on October 30. It also removed the rolling five-hour usage limit for verified Ultra subscribers. However, weekly usage limits still apply.

Anthropic renamed its two highest-priced Claude plans on October 30. The Max 5x plan is now called Max and costs $100 per month. The Max 20x plan is now called Ultra and costs $200 per month. Current subscribers do not need to do anything. Anthropic will automatically move them to the new plan names.

The usage rules have changed for verified Ultra accounts. Until now, Claude plans used a rolling five-hour usage limit. When users reached that limit, they had to wait for it to reset before using Claude again. Verified Ultra accounts no longer have this limit. This means users can work with Claude all day without having to stop around the middle of the day.

Weekly usage limits have not changed. Ultra still provides 10 times as much weekly usage as Pro. Anthropic's top model, Fable, has its own separate weekly limit, according to the Claude Help Center. If users use up their weekly allowance during two long days of work, they must wait until the weekly limit resets.

Anthropic checks Ultra accounts using account and payment history to prevent fraud. There is no form users can fill out to request verification. New accounts have a temporary usage limit until Anthropic finishes checking them. The Claude Help Center explains that verifying your phone number during checkout is a separate step and does not remove this limit. To check your account status, go to Settings > Usage. If you do not see a Current session bar, your account has been verified.

Most users will probably be fine with the Pro plan, which costs $20 per month. It includes Opus 5.5 at no extra cost. However, Pro does not include Fable. Users must spend usage credits to access that model. Max and Ultra include Fable, which can use up to half of the weekly usage allowance. Both plans also include monthly API credits worth $100 and $200, respectively. Ultra is available only as a monthly subscription. The $200 price is for subscriptions bought on the web. Prices in mobile apps may be different.
