Dayforce puts its HR and payroll data inside Anthropic’s Claude
Dayforce is bringing its human resources (HR), payroll and work scheduling data into Anthropic’s Claude. The HR software company said on Tuesday that a new Dayforce connector lets customers ask questions about their workforce in everyday language inside Claude and carry out certain tasks.
These tasks include approving requests, filling empty work shifts, submitting time-off requests and contacting job candidates. The connector uses the Model Context Protocol and is currently in beta testing. Dayforce expects it to become generally available in 2027.
According to Dayforce, every answer follows the access permissions that customers have already set up in Dayforce. Any changes to workforce data must be checked and explicitly approved by a person before they take effect. Salesforce also made its own products available inside Claude in August.
“Workforce insights and action should meet people in the systems where they already work.” Jake Varghese, chief product and technology officer, Dayforce
A platform built around agents
The connector is part of what Dayforce calls its Agentic HCM Platform. The company introduced it at Dayforce Discover, its main conference for customers. HCM stands for human capital management, which means managing an organization's workforce.
The platform includes Ask Dayforce, a feature that lets people have conversations with the software across the product. Dayforce AI Agents is a collection of specialised tools, with hundreds planned to support different parts of the employee journey. Dayforce Bots are AI assistants that customers can create to handle tasks that happen regularly.
Some AI agent features and parts of Dayforce Deploy, an AI-powered service that helps customers set up the software, are available now. Dayforce said other features are expected to arrive at different times through 2027.
Apps from a description
Dayforce also introduced Dayforce Build. It lets customers and partners create apps, bots and documents by describing what they need in everyday language. According to Dayforce, Build can work with different AI models rather than relying on just one. It chooses a large language model, or LLM, for each task. The apps run in a separate, protected environment called a sandbox and can access data only through Dayforce's permission system.
“If you can describe what your business needs, you can build it. That’s Dayforce Build.” David Ossip, founder and CEO, Dayforce
Dayforce Marketplace will let customers install apps and bots created by Dayforce, its partners and other customers. Aflac, Checkr, Deloitte, Emburse, Guusto, PwC and WorkBright are already developing products for the marketplace. Both Build and Marketplace are expected to launch in 2027.
Dayforce also expanded its work with Microsoft. Bots created with Build will run inside Copilot and Teams. Customers will also be able to create Copilot agents that use Dayforce data, while following each user's access permissions. Deloitte's first app built with Build helps manage payroll checks for SOX 404 audits. This work is part of a new strategic partnership between Deloitte and Dayforce.
Planning people and agents together
Dayforce plans to release a Strategic Workforce Planning Agent in the first quarter of 2027. The tool will help companies model how work could be divided between people and AI agents. It will show the cost of each change, including the cost of employees and the AI tokens used by agents, Dayforce said.
“For decades, workforce planning has started with headcount and worked backward. That model breaks when some of the work can be augmented by an AI agent.” Jake Varghese, Dayforce
The new products were announced one day after Dayforce published its annual Pulse of Talent survey. The survey covered 6,909 workers, managers and executives in six countries. It found that 51% of respondents said AI is reducing opportunities for people at the start of their careers. Among respondents in the US, 67% said AI adoption is moving faster than efforts to prepare workers for it.
